FAQ
Do I have to have non-profit status (501.c.3 stat) to even submit an application?
Absolutely not. By no means do we expect you to have a non-profit or even understand all the inner-workings of a non-profit. We just want you to provide to us your genius idea and why we should choose to support it.
What types of ideas/projects does Ignite support?
Please refer to our handy “sample project list” at http://www.ignitecincinnati.org
What types of ideas/projects would Ignite not support?
We want to build new, fresh ideas that continue to change and build upon Cincinnati.
Even though we participate in events such as 5K runs/walks, charity golf outings and happy hours, we are not interested in supporting them. Think about your passions and how you can push that passion into the community.
Do all the minor details of my idea have to be etched in stone to be considered?
We want to hear your idea no matter what stage of the game you are at. You don’t have to dot all or your i’s and cross all your t’s, but we want you to share your thoughts to the best of your ability.
Will the application take forever for me to put together?
It can take you as long as it does to fill out your updated information at the doctor’s office or as fast as it is (for some of us) to send a text message.
What if I’ve never done anything like this before? Am I at a disadvantage?
Actually, YOU = Advantage. Ignite is looking for fresh ideas. We look to fund the rookies.
What are the nitty gritty details of the application process?
First submit the application (via email or snail mail), wait for a phone call to interview and in just a few weeks we’ll let you know the status of your application. You can also reach any of the committee members at Ignite@givebackcincinnati.org
When can I apply?
Today or tomorrow. Really, anytime works for us. We will have bi-monthly meetings to
review applications.
Once I apply, when will I hear back?
The process should take 2–3 weeks. We want to make things happen as quickly as possible.
Can I apply again? Is it a reoccurring grant?
Ignite will provide the initial dollars to get you off the ground and running. We will do our best to connect you with contacts at other funding sources that are like-minded and may have interest in supporting your efforts.
When do I have to use the dollars?
We would like you to use them within a year of being granted. If you’re getting held up on your project, we can provide limited pressure (i.e. assistance) in making sure you keep the project moving along.
What other resources does Ignite provide?
The Ignite committee is represented by individuals who are part of several community
networks throughout Cincinnati. Let us know if you’ve got a snag in your plans and we’ll help connect you with someone who can help.
